Clamping bushes / Bolt-on hubs / Weld-on hubs / Intermediate sleeves - Taper system

Taper system clamping bushes, bold-on hubs, weld-on hubs and intermediate sleeves are machine elements that establish a replaceable clamping connection between shaft and hub (such as V-belt pulleys, toothed belt pulleys, chain wheels, couplings etc.). Our taper system clamping bushes are always supplied with a keyway.

Clamping bushes are used in mechanical engineering, especially in the field of drive technology. They are the connection between a shaft and the hub of a drive pulley.

Taper system clamping bushes can only be used in corresponding pulleys with Taper Lock® fittings. The advantage of this system is that both parts are very easy to install. There is no need to bore and ream a groove directly into the standard pulley.

The taper pulley specifies which bush number must be used (e.g. 2517). The outside diameter of the drive shaft can then be either a metric or an imperial dimension. Example: 2517-65 is a clamping bush with a bore of 65 mm, 2517-1 7/8" has a bore of 1 7/8 inches. The pulley can therefore be reused on another shaft. All you have to do is replace the taper bush, also known as the cone, with the new bore. This is certainly an advantage, as it not only saves material but also minimises the downtime of the machine. Each bush is fitted at the factory with two or three Allen screws and a keyway. The torque can be non-positively as well as positively transmitted, thanks to the keyway.
